The Dreame X50 Ultra Complete is a well-designed robot vacuum aimed at homes with mostly hard flooring. Its side-sweeping arms, accurate navigation and low-maintenance base station are among its strongest features, while carpet cleaning is its main weakness.
The model is available in the U.S. for $1,099 through Amazon and in the U.K. for £699. It comes in black or white. Dreame positions it as a flagship model, although the newer X60 Max Ultra Complete offers more advanced features and up to 42,000Pa of suction at a higher price of $1,699.
Its base station measures 23.2 x 18 x 13.4 inches and includes clean and dirty water tanks, a large dustbin and automatic emptying. The robot itself measures 13.8 x 13.8 x 4.4 inches, allowing it to move beneath furniture and between dining chairs. A Pro Leap system uses two small arms to help it cross low boundaries between rooms, while a retractable 360-degree scanning sensor maps its surroundings and lowers beneath furniture.
The circular mop pads were also praised for reaching room edges. In testing, the vacuum removed ketchup, mayonnaise and soy sauce from a kitchen floor without leaving visible residue.
The Dreame app provides cleaning schedules and adjustable settings through a straightforward interface. It also includes a guided walkthrough for new users. Mapping uses LiDAR and took approximately five minutes for four rooms. The resulting map accurately identified boundaries, floor types and obstacles such as shoes and loose cables.
Cleaning performance was strongest on hardwood floors. In testing, the X50 Ultra Complete collected 84% of hair, 88% of rice cereal and 82% of flax seeds. Its side-sweeping arm helped direct debris into the vacuum’s path, although hair took longer to collect and became caught in the roller.
Carpet performance was substantially lower. The vacuum collected 34% of hair, 51% of rice cereal and 24% of flax seeds. The review noted that vibrations caused the flax seeds to move across the carpet, and suggested that homes with pets may benefit from a model with stronger suction.
The base station can store dust for up to 100 days, depending on usage. It washes the mop pads with hot water and uses heated air to dry them, reducing the need for manual maintenance. Dreame recommends replacing the side brushes every three to six months as they wear.
Overall, the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete is a strong option for homes with hard floors and limited carpet. Its mapping, navigation, app and maintenance system are particularly effective, but users who need thorough carpet or pet-hair cleaning may prefer a more powerful model.
