The iPhone Duo is designed as a compact foldable, but its size looks different in comparison with Apple’s current iPhone lineup. Folded, the device is intended to be easier to carry in a pocket or bag, while opening it reveals a larger display suited to multitasking, watching movies and working on the go.
The Duo costs $1,999 and has a 5.4-inch cover screen alongside a 7.6-inch inner display. It measures 5.2 millimeters when unfolded and 11.3mm when folded, and weighs 254 grams. That makes it neither especially thin nor light, although its shorter body can make it easier to carry than some large traditional phones.
Compared with the $1,299 iPhone 18 Pro Max, the Duo is slightly heavier: the Pro Max weighs 249 grams. The 18 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display and is 8.75mm thick, but the Duo is shorter, which may make it more convenient for some pockets.
The $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, the same 8.75mm thickness as the Pro Max and a weight of 211 grams. As a result, the Duo feels noticeably heavier next to the standard Pro model.
Apple has not yet introduced a baseline iPhone 18 model, which is expected early next year. For comparison, the $899 iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch display, measures 7.95mm thick and weighs 177 grams.
The $1,099 iPhone Air is thinner and lighter still. Its 6.5-inch display sits in a 5.6mm-thick body weighing 165 grams, making the difference especially apparent for anyone moving from the Air to the Duo.
The $699 iPhone 17E has a 6.1-inch display, is 7.8mm thick and weighs 169 grams. It is therefore considerably lighter than the foldable.
Beyond its dimensions, the first-generation iPhone Duo has some limitations. It uses Touch ID instead of Face ID, offers less extensive multitasking than other foldable phones and has cameras that are more limited than those on the iPhone 18 Pro. However, its matte inner display is designed to reduce glare, while software integration across both screens contributes to a more polished experience.
