Joanna Gaines and the Magnolia team are embracing velvet for the holiday season, using the fabric across a collection that combines vintage style with a polished, glamorous finish. The texture appears in ornaments, stockings and tree decor available through Magnolia’s latest holiday offerings.
Velvet has long been associated with luxury, partly because of its historical ties to royalty and elite interiors. Although the material is now more accessible and affordable, its soft, rich texture still gives seasonal decorations a warm and elevated appearance.
Among the collection’s more affordable pieces is a deep red crushed-velvet ornament shaped like an oven mitt and pot holder. Inspired by a full-size Magnolia design, the $11 decoration uses velvet details to create a festive stocking stuffer for home bakers.
The collection also includes a printed velvet stocking priced at $35. Made from blue-toned cotton velvet designed to resemble an antique French tapestry, it features a brown scalloped trim and matching bow. Despite its decorative appearance, the stocking is machine washable after the holiday season.
The same Evergrove pattern is available as a Christmas tree skirt. Its muted blue color contrasts with traditional red and green decorations, while the velvet texture adds depth around the base of the tree and provides a soft setting for gifts.
With these designs, Gaines’ holiday collection uses velvet as both a traditional accent and a practical way to add warmth, texture and a vintage-inspired look to seasonal interiors.
