Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to launch in January 2027, potentially alongside three other phones in the Galaxy S27 series, including a new Pro model. Samsung has not confirmed the devices or their release plans, and the specifications currently available are based on leaks and reports.
The Ultra is expected to keep a 6.9-inch display and dimensions close to those of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. One reported design change is a full-width camera bar replacing the vertical camera arrangement. Leaked dummy units also suggest the phone will retain its built-in S Pen.
The display could use Samsung’s M16 OLED material, which is rumored to offer greater brightness. Samsung may also improve brightness when the Privacy Display feature is in use, while upgrades to the feature itself have been mentioned without further detail. Qi2 magnets are another reported addition, potentially allowing the phone to connect directly with compatible chargers and accessories. The feature may be limited to the Ultra and Pro models.
A leak points to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, though it is not clear whether Samsung will use a standard version or a customized “for Galaxy” chip. The phone is also rumored to offer 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. These details have not been confirmed by Samsung.
Camera reports describe a triple-lens rear system with a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Samsung may drop the second telephoto camera found on previous Ultra models. The remaining 50-megapixel telephoto lens could offer either 4x or 5x optical zoom, with reports differing on whether it will be a new sensor or carry over from the S26 Ultra. Variable optical zoom and variable aperture have also been discussed, but neither is confirmed.
The battery could grow from 5,000mAh to 5,700mAh, with leaks attributing the increase to silicon-carbon battery technology. Charging is rumored to reach 60W, while Qi2 would add magnetic wireless charging; there is no indication that wireless charging speeds will increase.
Software details remain scarce. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to run Samsung’s One UI, with One UI 9 or an updated One UI 9.5 mentioned in reports, based on Android 17. Galaxy AI is expected to remain part of the experience, but no specific S27 Ultra AI features have been confirmed.
