The Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 is available for $129 in an early Black Friday deal on Amazon, $50 below the $180 price of the newly launched Endorphin Speed 6. The sale makes the older model a lower-cost option for runners considering Saucony’s plated training shoes.

The Endorphin Speed 5 is a versatile daily trainer with a nylon plate and a ride designed to feel both quick and comfortable. A reviewer who logged more than 60 miles in the shoe rated it four stars and described it as suitable for a range of training runs. Most colors and sizes were discounted on Amazon at the time of the report.

Saucony made several changes to the Speed 6, including a new PWRRUN PBX midsole foam intended to be lighter and softer than the Speed 5’s PWRRUN PB. The new shoe also has 2mm more midsole stack height, along with smaller updates to its upper, outsole and nylon plate shape.

However, the reviewer found the Speed 6’s ride familiar after testing both models. The newer shoe felt slightly softer, particularly at the heel, but the overall feel was similar. While the Speed 6 may be a modest upgrade, the reviewer considered the Speed 5 the better value at the sale price.
