The 2026 Whole Home showcase presents storage as more than a practical necessity: it is part of creating interiors that feel calmer, more functional and visually considered. With closets, kitchens and bathroom vanities accommodating growing collections of everyday items, the design approach focuses on keeping clutter organized without sacrificing style.

Bathroom storage is receiving particular attention. A 2026 Houzz survey cited in the feature found that 21 percent of bathroom projects are replacing the standard 60-inch vanity with a 72-inch model, increasing both floor space and storage capacity.

The bathroom in the showcase was designed by Anissa Zajac, founder and principal designer of Indianapolis-based House Seven Design. Her scheme combines whimsical wallpaper, mixed-metal hardware and a his-and-hers vanity with generous counter space. The layout creates visual breathing room between the room’s decorative elements and the products used in everyday routines.

Zajac also added texture through fluted cabinet doors paired with traditional wainscoted drawers. The fluted fronts conceal additional storage for personal backstock and less frequently used products, keeping them out of sight while contributing to the room’s spa-inspired appearance.

The overall message is that effective storage can support both the look and usability of a home, making organization part of the way its spaces are experienced and enjoyed.
