The TDM. Neo is designed for people who want both headphones and a portable Bluetooth speaker without carrying two separate devices. A twist of its headband transforms the headphones into a speaker, while magnets help hold the folded shape. Unfolding the unit switches it back to headphone mode automatically.
The hybrid design has attracted attention, including a “legendary” assessment from Jimmy Fallon and recognition at CES 2026. In testing, the device was considered especially useful for light travel, where saving space can be more important than getting the strongest performance from either product category.
Battery life is one of the TDM. Neo’s strongest features. The headphones are rated for up to 200 hours of listening, while speaker mode offers up to 16 hours. A five-minute charge can provide eight hours of playback, although the charging figure does not specify which mode it applies to. The battery module is replaceable, potentially reducing the need to replace the entire device later.
The TDM. Neo uses 40mm drivers, Bluetooth 6.0, a 3.5mm auxiliary connection and multipoint connectivity. It supports SBC and AAC codecs, but does not include active noise cancellation, an IP rating or wear detection. The device weighs 12 ounces and is available in black or white.
Sound quality is acceptable rather than outstanding. The companion app includes six preset EQ options and a custom equalizer, although creating a personal EQ requires an account. Adjusting the balance, particularly by reducing treble and increasing bass, can make the sound more pleasant. Bass performance was described as strong, while high frequencies could sound tinny or clipped on some tracks. The speaker performed better when placed in its carrying case, which helped soften harsher high frequencies.
Volume is a more significant limitation. The TDM. Neo does not get particularly loud in either headphones or speaker mode, making it less suitable for filling a large room. Speaker performance also depends heavily on positioning. Because the drivers are located on either side of the folded earcups, the unit cannot simply be placed flat on a table. It needs to rest on its side with both speakers exposed, and the carrying case can help keep it balanced.
At $249 in the United States and £249 in the United Kingdom, the TDM. Neo is expensive for the level of sound and build quality it delivers. Its price reflects the convenience of combining two products, but the review found that both the headphones and speaker make compromises compared with dedicated alternatives.
The device received an overall score of 3.5 out of 5. Its design, comfort and battery life were among its better-rated areas, while price and speaker volume limited its appeal. The TDM. Neo is best suited to travelers and other users who value a compact two-in-one audio device more than maximum volume or premium sound quality.
