Netflix added 30 movies at the start of the month, including several titles suited to a relaxed weekend viewing session. Among the latest recommendations are Bridesmaids, No Sleep ’Til Christmas and Stand by Me, offering comedy, romance and ’80s nostalgia.

Bridesmaids (2010) follows Annie, played by Kristen Wiig, as she struggles with the pressures of being maid of honor. Her friendship with Lillian, portrayed by Maya Rudolph, becomes complicated when Annie clashes with Helen, an apparently flawless bridesmaid played by Rose Byrne. Directed by Paul Feig, the comedy also features Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper and Wendi McLendon-Covey.

No Sleep ’Til Christmas (2018) centers on Lizzie, an engaged wedding planner who has insomnia, and Billy, a bartender who also cannot sleep alone. Played by Odette Annable and Dave Annable, the pair discover that they can rest when sharing a bed and begin meeting regularly. Their arrangement soon develops into a romance that threatens to complicate their existing relationships before Christmas.

Stand by Me (1986) provides the lineup’s strongest dose of nostalgia. Rob Reiner’s coming-of-age drama, adapted from Stephen King’s novella The Body, follows four boys in a small Oregon town during the 1950s. Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern set off through the woods after deciding to search for a dead body.

The journey forces the boys to confront personal challenges, including grief, family problems, abuse and bullying. Their shared experience strengthens their friendship while marking a bittersweet step toward adulthood. Despite its darker themes, the film remains a memorable choice for viewers seeking an emotional and nostalgic weekend movie.
