Holiday travelers can use three Google Flights features to look for lower airfares: a flexible-date calendar, a dedicated “Cheapest” results tab and price tracking alerts. Each can help reveal options that may not stand out in the default search results.

For travelers with a fixed destination but flexible dates, selecting the departure-date field opens a monthly calendar showing fares across different days. Comparing nearby dates can help identify cheaper departures and returns, rather than relying on the first dates searched.

Google Flights initially presents a “Best departing flights” list, which balances factors such as journey convenience and price. The “Cheapest” tab instead highlights lower-priced options, including fares from budget airlines, itineraries with longer or self-transfer layovers, and bookings through third-party agents. Those options may involve trade-offs, so travelers can compare the details before choosing.

For trips planned well in advance, users can switch on “Track prices” on the route’s results page. Google then monitors fare changes and sends an alert when prices drop, giving travelers another way to follow costs before booking.
