Apple could refresh three additional iPad models during the first half of 2027, according to information attributed to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The reported lineup includes a new entry-level iPad, an OLED-equipped iPad Air and a higher-performance iPad Pro.
The iPad Air update would follow Apple's recent release pattern, with new generations of the tablet arriving during the first half of the year. The current iPad Air M4 launched in March, following the iPad Air M3 a year earlier. The next model is expected to use an M5 chip and could finally bring an OLED display to the Air range.
That change would leave the rumored iPad 12 as the only Apple tablet with an LCD screen. Details about the entry-level model remain limited, although previous reports have pointed to either an A18 or A19 chip and 8GB of RAM. Those specifications would allow it to support Apple Intelligence and Siri's AI features, while some advanced on-device functions would remain unavailable.
The iPad 12 is still expected to remain an entry-level product, meaning an OLED panel and possibly even 256GB of base storage may not be included. The report notes that an update could be particularly important because recent price increases have reduced the tablet's advantage over cheaper rivals.
The next iPad Pro could use either an M6 or the upcoming M7 processor, depending on whether the newer chip is ready in time. Rumors also point to vapor-chamber cooling, a design intended to improve heat dissipation during demanding gaming and AI workloads. The change could help address the thermal throttling associated with current iPad Pro models.
Apple has not revealed launch dates for these tablets. Based on its usual release timing, late winter or early spring 2027 is considered a possible window. Unless delays alter the schedule, the reported refreshes could account for Apple's main iPad updates for the rest of that year.
