The DJI Mic Mini 2S is a wireless microphone aimed at creators who want polished audio without paying the price of DJI’s flagship model. In its review, Tom’s Guide praised its sound quality, environmental noise cancellation and battery life, while noting that plosive sounds—particularly words beginning with “p”—can come through sharply.

The microphone records 32-bit float audio, giving creators a broad dynamic range that can be adjusted in post-production. Its transmitters also have 14.5GB of internal storage, enough for around 22 hours of 32-bit float recordings or 28 hours at 24-bit float, according to the review.

Noise cancellation was a particular strength. Tom’s Guide reported that the microphones reduced background sounds, including laptop notifications, without making the recorded voice sound muffled. The reviewer also found that softer fricative sounds, such as “s,” “sh” and “f,” were captured clearly.

Battery life is rated at up to 11 hours per transmitter and 10 hours for the receiver. With the charging case, total runtime reaches up to 40 hours. Connectivity options include the USB-C receiver, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm connection to traditional cameras. Compatible DJI devices can also connect through the OsmoAudio ecosystem without the receiver, and the system supports up to four transmitters.

The review identifies two drawbacks. Plosives such as “p,” “b,” “d” and “g” can sound harsh, although microphone placement and technique may affect the result. The plug-in receiver is also bulky enough to make a phone awkward to lay flat or stand upright.

The tested two-transmitter version is listed in the U.K. for £169, while a one-transmitter option costs £79. Tom’s Guide says the Mic Mini 2S is not yet available in the U.S. The review recommends it to casual content creators looking to improve audio, especially when recording in noisy surroundings, but advises considering the receiver’s size and sensitivity to popping sounds.
