Expedia Group has rolled out more than 30 features across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, with a focus on using AI to make travel planning and bookings easier. The updates include tools for travelers both before and after they reserve a trip.

Expedia’s additions include a redesigned homepage, flexible travel packages, simpler booking options for families and interactive destination maps. The company is also expanding airport benefits, including Clear Plus discounts and free lounge access for flight delays.

Two new AI tools are intended to help travelers plan activities after booking. Activity Planner can suggest and book activities, restaurants and events based on a traveler’s itinerary and preferences. Property Expert answers questions about accommodations with AI-generated information covering the property, reviews and reservations.

Hotels.com is expanding its AI Compare feature, which lets users compare hotels based on factors such as location, amenities, price and policies. Its homepage will also adjust to the type of trip booked, with relevant links such as options to extend a stay or access receipts for work expenses.

Vrbo is adding a tool to manage group bookings, a reserve-now-pay-later option and improved customer support. Its natural-language search lets users describe the rental they want in everyday terms, rather than relying only on traditional filters.

The platform is also updating its Arrival Experience. Details such as check-in and checkout times, door codes, directions and house rules will be gathered in one place, instead of spread across emails or messages.

Expedia Group Chief Product Officer Shilpa Ranganathan said the company is developing AI features to help travelers make informed decisions and personalize their trips, while retaining access to human agents when needed.
